Set up Pushover for alerts
Pushover is a third-party app that delivers notifications to your phone. If you prefer to keep alerts out of the messaging apps you use every day, it is the tidiest option. There are four steps. If you already use Telegram, the Telegram guide is the simpler route.
Install Pushover
Open the App Store on your iPhone, search for Pushover Notifications and install it.
Open Google Play on your phone, search for Pushover Notifications and install it.
Pushover is a third-party product with its own terms: the account is created with them, not with us. You can try it free for 30 days, then you pay once for each platform you use it on: Apple (iPhone and iPad together), Android, or the computer. For the price, see Pushover's price list.
Create your account and register the device
- Open Pushover and tap Signup to create an account, or log in if you already have one.
- Confirm your email address when you receive the verification message.
- Give the device a name when the app asks: it helps you tell it apart if you add others later.
Copy your user key
Pushover assigns each account a user key, a string of letters and numbers. It's what lets us deliver your alerts. You can find it both in the app and by logging in to your account on the Pushover website.
- Open Pushover and tap the gear icon at the bottom.
- The user key is at the top of the screen.
- Tap the key to copy it.
- Open Pushover and tap the menu at the top left.
- The user key is shown on the main account screen.
- Press and hold the key to copy it.
The user key is not a password, but whoever has it can send you notifications. Treat it as internal information and don't share it publicly.
Enter the key and send a test
- Sign in to your CybeTower Radar personal area and open View Profile, then Edit Profile.
- In the Pushover notifications field, paste your user key: press and hold inside the field until Paste appears, then tap it. Finally, press Save Changes.
- Open Test Alerts and press Send Test Alert.
- Check your phone: the notification should arrive within a few seconds.
Done
From now on, alerts arrive on Pushover. If the test does not arrive, check that the key has been pasted in full, with no spaces before or after, and that the app's notifications are enabled in your phone's settings.
