Privacy notice of the CYBETOWER Connect app (Android)
Who is responsible
The app belongs to POWERB SAGL, Via Serrai 2, 6592 S.Antonino, Switzerland (CHE-367.484.791). Privacy questions: privacy(at)cybetower.swiss.
What stays on the phone
- Tunnel configurations, with their private key, are sealed with a hardware-backed key of the phone and excluded from backups and device transfers.
- Connection history, traffic statistics, settings, the device name you type and a random installation identifier stay in the app. The history deletes itself after the period you choose in the settings.
- Uninstalling the app deletes all of this data.
What leaves the phone, and to whom
- VPN traffic: it goes to the server named in the tunnel configuration, run by your company or provider. The app does not record or analyse the content of the traffic.
- Activation from CYBETOWER SHIELD, only when you start it, to api.platform.cybetower.swiss: e-mail, password and second-factor code to sign in; the PUBLIC key of the tunnel; the device name; the random installation identifier; the platform; the app and system versions; the results of the device security checks (for example screen lock on, disk encrypted, security update level). Never the private key, never files, phone user names or hardware identifiers such as serial number, IMEI or MAC address. The session is kept in memory only and closed after the activation.
- Server address: the app asks the DNS of the network you are using for the address of the VPN server, again if the server stops answering.
- DNS test: only if you start it, one query to the DNS servers of the tunnel.
- External links (website, Google Play) open only if you tap them.
- No advertising, no usage statistics, no tracking, no third-party analytics library. Google Play handles installation and updates under its own rules.
Data on the CYBETOWER platform
The data sent at activation lets the administrator of your organisation manage accesses, diagnose problems and assess the security of devices. The details of the security checks are kept up to 13 months, a daily summary longer. For this data you can also contact your organisation.
Permissions and why
- VPN service: create the encrypted tunnel.
- Internet and network state: reach the server, notice network changes.
- Foreground service and notifications: keep the tunnel running and show that it is on.
- Start after reboot: bring back the tunnels you left on.
- Camera (optional): read the QR code of a configuration or activation, only when you open the scanner.
- Fingerprint or screen lock: protect the tunnels you ask to protect.
- Quick settings tile: switch the tunnel on and off from there.
Your rights
Under the Swiss data protection act (nFADP) you can ask for information, correction or deletion of the data about you by writing to privacy(at)cybetower.swiss.
Changes
We update this notice the same day an app version changes connections, permissions or data. Last update: 06.10.2026.
